Miguel A. Fleitas is a creator by nature, with more than 25 years of experience in the industry of cinematography and television. Whether as director, cameraman or photographer—always, his career has been joined narrowly to the Art and has constantly been developed in different artistic demonstrations. Fleitas has obtained prizes and international recognitions thanks to the talent accumulated in his path.

His career as a painter has been completely self-taught. Likewise, his apprehension for painting was born since very young, charging life to the extent that stamps his talent in the cloths. While interested in the context, he studied from masters that indisputably influenced him in his work of classes, determining his real style and what he shows us in his development.


His father, Miguel Fleitas, was a painter and founder of the ICAIC (Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos) as a director of documentaries and screenwriter of feature films. He dedicated his life to create. Miguel Fleitas passed away in the year 2002.

Emilio Fernandez de la Vega, Art Critic and Poet, says, “what I notice in the paintings of Miguel Fleitas is a tremendous force, is a great force, is a painting of force in terms of composite design of the pieces, of the utilization and gesture with which he puts the color, and turns out to be interesting and stimulating the proposal of Miguel Fleitas in the Art.”


Miguel Fleitas, escapes by sea, from the island of Cuba in 1986, and resides since then in the United States. His artwork has been exhibited in different galleries in Cuba, New York, Miami, Latin America and Europe.
